Well, that's it. I'm officially no longer a student. Goodbye Hogwarts. While there are some things I'm going to miss, overall, I'm glad to be going.

I wish I could say something more profound about such a big change in my life, but it hasn't completely sunk in yet.

Four hours of written exams in one day. I'm pretty sure this is what Hell is like.

Thankfully, the worst day of exams is over with.

Four exams down, six to go!

Just got back from the trip to the Dippet trial. I've never been to a trial before, though I've seen clips of Muggle trials on the news. It was really interesting, and I'm glad I went. I almost didn't because I missed so much class last month, but I've caught up with all of my classes, so I don't think it'll hurt.

I really wish Law Enforcement Shadowing Week wasn't going to be rescheduled. I was looking forward to a week in Diagon Alley! Oh, well, the shadowing I have managed to get to do has been interesting, and there are still the trips to see the trials to look forward to.

I think I'm back. What the hell happened?

I must be so behind on schoolwork. Does anyone in any of my classes have notes I can borrow?

Subject:Warded to Muggleborns and Muggles

Mood: thoughtful

I've been thinking a lot about being a muggleborn in the wizarding world.

Has anyone else noticed that the wizarding world can be like one of those backwards, snobby small towns that look down on outsiders and frown on anything new and different? I've noticed it for a while, but it's been more apparent than ever recently. People here can be so set in their ways. People are all "I told you so" about the phones. But trying new things is all about trial and error. Things don't always work out the first time around.

And then there's the catch-22 of being muggleborn. The wizarding world can be backwards, old-fashioned, and often narrow-minded, but you can use magic without ever having to hide it. The Muggle world isn't without its prejudices and intolerance, but as fearful as people in general can be of change, change does occur at a much faster pace in the Muggle world, and let's face it, I didn't realize just how much I took Muggle technology for granted until I went to Hogwarts. But I'm not going to be able to do magic in public, and I'm always going to have to hide the fact that I'm a witch. Sure, that's imposed by the Statute of Secrecy, but I'm not sure I'd like how some people would treat me if they knew. Either way, I know I'll never fully fit into either world.

The more I think about this, the more I think that maybe I want to go into adapting Muggle technology for magic use. The wizarding world needs some change and progress, and instead of sitting here and complaining about it, I want to do something.

Thanks to my Secret Santa! The gifts were all great. It was especially nice to see a real pen. I miss being able to write with them. I mean, I still can, but not as much as I'd like.

Which reminds me, I need to send Branson something

I think the wizarding world could benefit more from Muggle technology. I mean, sure, there's television now, but what about telephones and even simple things like ballpoint pens? Owl post may beat snail mail, and these journals are a good substitute for email, but there's no telephone equivalent. And quills and ink can be messy. Ballpoint pens are more practical- no inkspills, and they're easy to bring with you wherever you go.

I'm really tempted to join the new Muggle Studies club, but I'm not sure if I can. I mean, I'm only involved in two activities, but what with all the preparing for NEWTs, I'm not sure if I'll have the time.

Also, a reminder to members of Slytherin cheer- there's an extra practice this week on Friday morning, don't forget!

I'm getting tired of eating the same food all the time. It's all really good, but after nearly seven years, a change would be nice. I suggest Taco Tuesdays.

Evie, has anyone expressed interest in going as Sailor Moon or Sailor Mercury for the dance?

I really envy those who managed to get a day off or even just one class for a day! I've got at least two classes a day, though that's not too different from last year. Apart from some more intensive studying, I don't think this year should be much more difficult from the last one. I've resolved not to let the NEWTs madness get to me at the end of the year.

In other news, remember, Slytherin cheer tryouts are coming up! I've got a sign-up sheet in the common room, and if you have any questions, please contact me.

I GOT IT!!!!!!! Got what, you ask? CHEER CAPTAIN. I can't- okay, I can sort of believe it. I mean, Valerian and Patricia would have done well, but I have the most dance and gymnastics experience out of all of us, and I think this year's routines are going to be the best yet. I was waiting all morning for this. I thought I was going to go insane! I have to get working on choreography ASAP.

Today was a nice day. I went with some of the girls from my lyrical class to the carnival in town. It was a lot of fun, and I won a little stuffed Snoopy. It's so cute!

On a more random note, what is the point of decaf coffee?

I finally got a journal at the end of the year, but I've been too busy to really get a chance to write in mine until now. I'm starting dance lessons and work on Monday, which will keep me especially busy.

I've missed home, and have been making the most of it. I don't know how I go so long without YouTube or a cell phone. If any of you have cell phones, by the way, feel free to give me your number- you can ward it so only I can see it if you feel more comfortable doing so. Mine is 555-9582.
